When I sit down to write this, I almost always wish I was sitting face to face with you, and having the conversation! I’ll share as best as I can, and I hope I get to hold the space to hear more about you, too!
I grew up in a small town in North Dakota, where much of my family still lives. I was often called “sensitive” and “unique” by family and friends, and did often feel simultaneously extremely close to those around me and also somehow on the “outside”. I also spent most of my childhood as a competitive gymnast! I loved being a “good girl”, a “good student”, and being loved/approved of by my teachers, mentors, caretakers, and friends.
When that didn’t pan out (e.g., feeling bullied and disinvited from friend groups), I turned toward things I felt I could control and strive for; academic and body perfection. Although much of the energy and focus was internal, I allowed almost ALL of the say of whether I was “ok” or not come from outside sources. This continued for YEARS, motivating me to graduate with high honors in undergrad and then grad school, and then to excel in my career in Corporate America.
As I bet MANY of you can relate to, my body and soul weren’t onboard for much of this. My body serves as a Soul messenger, and its messages continued to get louder and LOUDER. From constant GI stress, to blood sugar roller coasters, to adrenal exhaustion, and out-of-whack periods and hormones, the years I told myself “I could do it all and control exactly how I wanted it to go” caught up with me. And years later, I’ve learned so much and am still recovering.
Creating health and taking care of ourselves is a daily intentional experience; it isn’t found in a 30-day protocol, a cleanse, or program. It also changes over time, as we are dynamic and always growing. With a strong background in behavior change and holistic health, my passion is to provide tools and to help you cultivate your unique suite of skills, strengths, and gifts to create the highest vision for you life.
I work primarily with women, and I’ve found for myself and in working with so many women now, that we require a different approach then men. Our biology, our chemistry is different. I truly believe we are all equal, but to me, equal doesn’t mean identical. Though we are all influenced by larger cycles (e.g., circadian rhythms), as women, our bodies are cycling monthly, for much of our lives. Our bodies, brains, energy levels, creativity, social needs, are different from day to day and week to week. While historically this hasn’t been held in a positive light, I believe understanding it and utilizing it can reveal our greatest strengths.
Through holistic and intuitive nutrition, yoga, meditation, behavior change tools, and plant medicine (essential oils), I would love to help you uncover that dormant force residing within you. Let’s create your own Empowered Practice.
