The Intersection of Habits + Living Your Design

New Year’s Resolutions…

we’ve all set them, or at least considered them. It’s a fun energy to be in! Newness! Possibility! A fresh start! That all sounds good. But when the rubber meets the road, 80% of them fail (1), and most within the first two weeks of the year (2).

Why?

Have you ever said to yourself, “I just don’t have the willpower today”? Or, “if there’s a will there’s a way”? One of the ways that human design can support you in actually understanding your unique energy architecture is by looking at the WILL CENTER in your bodygraph.

The will center is one of the four motor centers in the  bodygraph

and is the seat of getting value-aligned things done and materializing desires, even in the face of challenge. It is the small triangle below and to the right of the center diamond (the G center), and if it is open/undefined, you don’t have consistent access to this energy. What you might experience is that in some environments and around certain people (those with this center defined), you feel supercharged with the drive to get it done; in others or in your own energy, not so much (and that is perfectly ok!). In fact, if you have this center open, you have the ability to become very wise about how you use this energy, for example, how you value your time, your skills, and your offerings to the world; when to push and when to surrender to rest. The hard lesson is to know when to engage (using your strategy and authority), because if you enter into situations that aren’t aligned, you may end up burned out.

Hot Tip: Ask yourself this question...

Am I trying to prove something by doing this? If your answer is "yes", you are likely using energy that you don't have to do something that doesn't actually matter to you!

If you are one of the few who actually does have a defined will center...

you will have consistent access to willpower (although you can still burn out if you aren’t living according to your design). If you are living your design, you can make decisions and will have the will to put it into action. Creating new habits, for example, may not be challenging for you. You’re fortunate in this way as society values the “just do it” method. Once you commit, there’s no going back (or you will do so at a large energy cost!), so make sure it is truly a “yes” for you or you may find your vitality diminishing, especially in the systems this center controls: the heart, stomach, gallbladder, and thymus. Also, don’t take it personally if others don’t seem to be able to implement new habits like you can; they’ve got to work with their own energy and design which is PERFECT for them!

We all have a unique design that was perfectly crafted for our journey through this lifetime.
