I was initially introduced to Jadi’s passion (I refuse to say “work”) through one of the yoga classes she teaches. I really connected to her teaching style – the connection of mind, body, and spirit that she brings to her (and now my!) yoga practice. I approached Jadi because I was ready to make some changes to move my life forward, but felt I needed a coach (accountability partner!) to help me define my steps AND take them. I was inspired by her holistic approach of considering all things from all sides. She reminds me that life is multi-dimensional and that finding and living our best lives require us to be as well. In working with Jadi, I realized that my life wasn’t a simple cause and effect; that there are contributions on many levels as to why things had happened that with awareness I could use to make more of my own choices happen. She helped me bring a deeper sense of self-awareness to the surface. Working with Jadi has inspired me to move from an observer to a participant in my own life. I have confronted some of my fears and started to realize and actually pursue my dreams. I have also learned to show myself more compassion, and am working on making my voice louder than other influences. Working with Jadi is an investment in your-self. My name is Meghan Dames and I am 36 years old. I have been working with Jadi Engels for several months on my nutrition and overall wellness. Some things we have focused on include setting SMART goals, mapping out ways to achieve those goals, and education about food. I know it may sound simple, I have two master's degrees and thought I knew my fair share about food, but knowing how much and what to eat was really complicated for me. Jadi has educated me about reading labels on food packages, proper caloric intake, and giving my body what it needs. Jadi also provides support throughout your journey to overall wellness. Prior to working on lifestyle improvements with you, I felt what can best be described as perpetually sluggish. I always felt "weighted down" due to many factors, including poor diet and lack of exercise. I also had a fair amount of discharge that I just accepted as the "norm." After cutting out dairy, I realized that I actually have an intolerance to it (and it was my all-time favorite meal category--namely milk!). The copious amounts of sugar intake in my daily diet also contributed to my lethargy. Of course, cutting out sugar has proven far more difficult because it's everywhere (!) but adding more vegetables and white meats and staying away from the sugary sauces has become far less arduous as I have made these good choices into habits. I am still adapting to these lifestyle changes--but viewing them as permanent as opposed to "temporary fixes" has shed the most light on my perspective on food, exercise, and well-being! Now, I feel so much more stable in my everyday life. The "weighted down" feeling is nearly alien and the discharge is nonexistent! I no longer care about a number on a scale, either. I care about keeping these feelings of energy, positivity, and lightness for the rest of my life.

I recall going into our first meeting with some doubt. You see, I had tried working with a few professional dieticians in the past and had never seem to accomplish much. Within about 15 minutes into our first meeting I believed that this woman knew what she was doing. Jadi explained that we would have a total of 12 meetings (once every 2 weeks) to both discuss my dietary behavior and to become properly educated about food. I will admit that the process of recording my food intake was, for me, quite laborious, but Jadi’s constant encouragement to do so made the process possible. Interestingly I thought I was doing a decent job of managing my food intake before I met Jadi. This was not the case. Truth be told I was ignorant as to what I was eating and how it was affecting my health. Admittedly, half way into our sessions, I realized that although I have been a well-educated man, I had a lot of incorrect information about the food I was eating. So as I worked with Jadi on my dietary alterations some amazing things started to happen. I began to have increased energy, lose weight and generally feel better. Now I will be the first to admit that it was not easy for me to make the big dietary alterations I needed to make – but Jadi’s constant encouragement and assistance made it possible. With kidney complications I have learned that diet plays a much bigger role in my general health condition than anything else. One factor that was crucial for me were the glucose levels I had. Jadi really educated me on all things sugar and has literally turned my life around. My glucose A1C numbers went from 8.6 to 6.1 in just about 8 weeks!
My sessions with Jadi Engels was ended a little more than 3 months ago. I have just gone through another extensive battery of tests and all my body chemistry health indicators are well within normal ranges. Even though the threat of further kidney complications always remains real for me, both my doctors and I are amazed at what has been accomplished under Jadi’s guidance. In just a little over 6 months, my overall kidney functionality has improved a whopping 50%!
The essence of what Jadi has given me was a factual and a lifelong education on the food I should choose to eat and wiser health management techniques. Would I recommend Jadi Engels? Let me put it this way: many may look at Jadi Engels and see a woman of small stature, when I look at Jadi, I see her as a giant among health practitioners. Jadi Engels is a truly fine, compassionate and knowledgeable health practitioner and I highly recommend her.
